Eriogaster
The autumn eggar differs from the other two related species of the genus Eriogaster by its light brown wings with very faint patterns. Adult butterflies are active in autumn and early winter but in different habitats in relation to the eastern eggar. This is a species that predominantly inhabits karst grassland and shrubby habitats where oaks grow, on whose leaves feed the caterpillars of this species. Although the historical records of this species are very scarce, today we know that the species is widespread in the coastal area of Croatia and that locally it can be very common.
