This is one of two species of its genus in our country and it can be recognized it by the light gray edge of the wing, which is clearly contrasting with the rest of the wing. It belongs to the winter species and is active most often in late autumn and during winter. The caterpillars of this species feed on ash, willow and larch leaves. The distribution in Croatia is not well known and so far it has been recorded only in the area of Biokovo and southern Dalmatia. It is assumed that it inhabits other high mountainous areas of our country. The main problem in detecting the species is its late flight time of the year, since entomological research usually stops then, especially in mountainous areas.
