The Dingy skipper is a easily recognizable butterfly, one that can only be mixed up with the representatives from the genus Carcharodus. Their color changes between light-brown to deep brown, almost black. The patterns on the wings are usually unnoticable, but they can differ between almost unnoticable white dots to expressed white lines on the wings. This species inhabits almost all types of meadows, steppes, ruderal areas and habitats near forests. The host plants are from the genus: Coronilla, Eryngium, Hyppocrepis, Lotus and Medicago. This species inhabits the bigger half of Europe, western and central Asia. In Serbia it can be found all-around, except on higher altitudes.
